Pros
I work at the South campus on the med/surg units. My co-workers are fabulous (for the most part) Everyone works as a team to make sure patients are well cared for and safe. The team attitude comes from a strong passion to do our best, not for our bosses, but for our patients. Our patients come first and we support each other to see the patients get and stay healthy.
Cons
Management only looks out for themselves. They will gossip about you to other people, your personal life and your privacy are not important. Patient care comes second to their menial tasks. They will not help an overwhelmed nurse, but will instead scold her for not working harder. They will do what they can to keep their job, even if that means throwing you under the bus. My holiday schedule was changed two weeks before the holiday and instead of recognizing that I may have plans, I was forced to either come in or face a write-up. Management does not recognize good behavior in any way. The only time you see or hear from management is when you have done something wrong. The communication 'pipeline' is weak. The director gets information and she relies on 'word-of-mouth' to ensure it reached all 100+ employees she oversees.
