Pros

•PTO accrues quickly •Some coworkers become friends •Free T-shirt once a year •Free holiday meal on thanksgiving/Christmas •When management has catered food for their meetings, they'll let us have the scraps when they're finished.

Cons

Very busy and unnecessarily stressful for what the basic job should entail. Before becoming employed they make the pharmacy technicians sign a waiver saying that they will work 10 hour days with no overtime pay, and that you cannot sue or participate in any class action lawsuit against them for any reason. They pay the pharmacists overtime for their 10 hour shifts, and they pay the RN's overtime if their shift is over 8 hours. They totally screw the Pharm techs and you start feeling like a slave. Did I mention our hourly pay is significantly lower than the average Pharm tech salary in our area? Yet it is the busiest and most specialized critical care hospital in the Central Valley. It's not all about money though, the pharmacy environment is generally chaotic and completely inefficient in terms of workflow. The consensus within is that you do not want to work in the IV room, making chemo or in the NICU satellite pharmacy. Most hospitals pay more for this type of specialized tech service, but not at good ol' CRMC-that would make too much sense, facilitate growth, and possibly foster professional development, and nobody likes those things.

Pros

One of the most important hospitals in the Central Valley. Undergoing much needed infrastructure improvements. Continuously recruiting physician specialists. Excellent marketing and propaganda department.

Cons

Poor, unqualified management resulting in high employee dissatisfaction and good nurses leaving. Constantly understaffed and nurses go over patient ratio. Lowest compensation when compared to other health care facilities. Take too much pride in its affiliation with UCSF school of medicine, neglects and undervalues the nursing profession.
