It’s on fire

Pros

You learn how to quickly put out fires until you realize it’s all stemming from one single wildfire-Compass itself.

Cons

No support for staff, agents get to walk all over them. For the staff, It’s a very toxic environment with everyone fighting to prove that they deserve to have a job. You work 24/7 even when furloughed (yes, you read that correctly) Managers will throw you under the bus in order to look good themselves (they are known for it) financially the company is a mess. Routinely they don’t pay their vendors until the massive bill is (Allegedly) sent to collections. Agents aren’t happy because the Compass tools suck. A thriving agent at Compass isn’t thriving because of Compass-they thrived before they were recruited because the agent can run a good business, not Compass. I’m very skeptical of all the recent reviews posted here that love Compass and give it a high score. If you look closer, it’s the same message repeated in different ways or it’s submitted by someone who has been with the company less than four months. It’s worth noting that you are asked to write a Glassdoor review for the company when you come onboard as new staff. This whole company is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

Pros

Compass hires such a great and diverse group of people! There are people from so many different professional and cultural backgrounds that you really get to learn so much. I truly loved working with my office and regional marketing colleagues. The agents, for the most part, are really great and appreciative of all the work you do.

Cons

If you are an agent facing employee, you are basically treated like dirt by upper management. You are barely even given a desk to work at. Compass hides (or at least did) behind good benefits to make up for the fact that there is no such thing as work/life balance and zero structure. Most offices only have one staff member from each department (Marketing, Agent Success, IT) and with that have very little assistance for day-to-day tasks. Employees are expected to never say no, so when there are constant requests and very little support it leads to employees being stretched thin and very stressed. When you express this stress to upper management they just say it's how the industry is and encourage you to be a team player rather than providing any actual help. In most cases, employees are the last to know about company initiatives that ultimately impact them and their workload. This leave the employees looking like idiots when agents come to them asking for things they know nothing about and are expect to just roll with it. As someone who was a part of the mass layoff in the beginning of the COVID-19 shutdown, it really showed how little the company valued their employees. They did the layoff 1 week into the mandatory WFH and in a last minute Monday morning video call with 50 people. They provided very little information or explanation during the call and even less afterward. As you can expect we were all in shock and hoped we would get some kind of email from HR or upper management afterward, but that did not happen, they just shut off our access at the end of the day and that was it. The CEO sent a mass email to all agents and employees briefly mentioning the layoff, but couldn't be bothered to send something to the people actual effected to show a little respect. No one from upper management reached out to show some sense of decency. It was the biggest slap in the face and the most disrespect I have ever felt from a company.

Pros

Office location. That's about it.

Cons

Rogers has big turnover with his agents. They put on a good song and dance to make it seem like it's an amazing place to work to get new agents aboard. Then they tell agents to pay out of their pockets to put ads all over social media, for the MAIN purpose of getting the brokerages name all over social media. The tell you to put hashtags for the brokerage too. IF an agent sells anything while they're there, which happens not too often since they give minimal to borderline useless "training" there, then they take a huge chunk of your commission while also nickel and diming you on random charges. Rogers is fake and dangerously narcissistic and doesn't care at all about his agents. They're just a tool for him to get free marketing for his name and make his brokerage look like it's "big time" so he can better land the whales with deep pockets and pricey houses for himself. Rogers talks badly about the agents behind their backs and has virtually no respect for the majority of them. He does ridiculous "articles/interviews" that he pays for to make him look like a big shot, along with the pointless FOX "interviews" where he clearly either pays for or has a buddy who hooks him up with those spots that have limited airings. His alleged substance abuse problem has been spreading through the grapevine especially since he tweaks and fidgets more and more even on camera, which terrifies many agents since it can cause random bouts of anger and rash decisions towards them. He also forces agents to post fake reviews on many review sites including here. So I want to make sure a real voice is heard to expose the truth so other agents don't waste their time and money with this company and broker.
