Pros

None for employees of recently acquired companies.

Cons

We recently got acquired by Compass. Don’t get any of the benefits actual Compass employees get. They treat agents like they are God’s but they forget about employees.

Pros

Good reputation, fancy PR, marketing, offices, office snacks, office administration, and tech. All very good and likely first in class.

Cons

Terrible management. Worst Finance Department in the business. Sells false short-term contract with good splits for commissions, but after the initial term expires you automatically revert to a commission table applicable to all agents that is the worst and most egregious in the industry. Also, the worst part is that they sell a complete false story about being more honest, upstanding, and honorable about how they approach brokerage, but in the end they are just as bad or worse than other big firms. They are steadily marching towards a sale or IPO that will greatly enrich the E-class, but none of the agents and are doing so on the backs of the agents.

Pros

My amazing coworkers are the sole bright spot

Cons

Do not believe a word this company says even if you have it in writing - say, in your employment contract. They will throw any and all employee under any bus in order to appease the client (the agents), who are permitted to get away with the most abhorrent behavior. Have it in writing that you’re a fully remote employee? Don’t take that to bank, and DEFINITELY don’t make any major life changes based on that false sense of security. They’ll yank that out from under you with minimal warning, less flexibility, and absolutely zero logic. Think you’re an organized person who takes pride in delivering your work on time and according to plan? Throw that out the window, Senior Leadership (looking directly at you, Robert Reffkin) will change their minds about key initiatives and programs with the wind, and you’ll be left holding the tatters of your professional pride, sanity, and mental health. Interested in professional development? Seek it elsewhere. The took away tuition reimbursement 2 years ago, and what managers exist with mentoring abilities are stretched so far past their capacity that they can’t help you.
