Pros

Decent New York office location. Work life balance generally protected (take your PTO). Co-workers are motivated and driven to learn and grow. Great senior leadership (Regional Directors and up) in place to drive company forward in challenging macro environment.

Cons

- Too many layers of middle managers (Snr Manager -> Director) - most of whom are incompetent or redundant. Some of the worst managers I have ever worked for in my entire career. Vet them thoroughly prior to joining. - Your day to day will have no stability or structure - your managers will always drop things on your plate and expect you to complete everything. This does not happen occasionally, it happens every week without fail. "Start up culture/move fast" is used as an excuse for terrible planning. - High performers are given more work, while slackers are dragged along. Management has no courage to properly manage poor performers. - No career pathways or development plans; don't expect an internal promotion. - Bonuses are not real bonuses and are not tied to any clear performance evaluation. Very biased and swayed by recency bias. - Stock price is in the dumps and will likely stay there for the foreseeable future.

Pros

Some of the most talented and driven individual contributors Wide breadth of work available; make your career what you want it to be Lots of freedom to ideate and drive new products and initiatives

Cons

The leadership here is woeful - they are poorly trained and frequently panic Your job will involve a lot of putting out fires and emergencies because your managers failed to plan correctly Promotions and leadership roles are given out as a retention perk - people threaten to quit so they are promoted to stay. This results in disengaged and poor leadership There is no clear career pathing - negotiate your salary hard at the start, because it will not change once you are in. Your RSUs are worthless and will likely remain that way for a very long time

Pros

I LOVE my local team. everyone is so supportive and wonderful. Unlimited sick time. Work/life balance is heavily prioritized. My manager specifically was so trustworthy and encouraging. Basic benefits have no premium!

Cons

no 401k match. Internally, they are going through a lot of changes and it feels incredibly chaotic. Before one thing is fully rolled out, they turn efforts toward a new roll out. Both tech wise (which results in SO many new things for agents and employees to learn and never fully formed products) but also with our job descriptions. Recently they did a "restructure" and it added SO much work to our roles and gave some people a totally new job that they didnt even ask for. These things along with a terrible way to layoff 10% of your staff, makes for a very untrustworthy corporate structure. I was also recruited with the understanding that there was a lot of room for growth and bonuses, but the bonuses and pay are really depressing for how much one person is expected to know.
