Pros

I've been working at Compass since it was originally founded as Urban Compass back in 2013. It was at a time when their business model was very different from the current brokerage. People often ask me what made me go there so early on... as crazy as it sounds, I knew. I knew it would be the national (hopefully global) recognizable brand that is now rapidly becoming synonymous with cutting edge real estate brokerage fueled by proprietary technology. That did not exist in real estate brokerage previously. There was also a level of passion that captivated me, these were people who loved the idea of creating, building and working together to achieve something. It has been at core of the company since the very beginning. It is intoxicating.

Cons

Compass may not be for everyone. It is a space for growth, experimentation, collaboration, creating and failing... and most importantly learning from those failures. That's not an environment for everyone. Many people are happy to follow along with the status quo. That's okay. Compass is a place for growth.

Pros

- Fast-paced environment where my ideas are heard and I am empowered to make an impact and improve the way the business works - Surrounded by team members who are passionate, believe there's a better way, and want to deliver great work - Agents are a pleasure to work with, respect the Employee team and want to play a role in helping us grow and better our systems - Appreciate that the business is transforming the way we deliver for our Agents. Proud to be a contributor creating the best Agent experience in the industry - Robert and the exec team's vision and mission for the company are clear. - Feel fortunate to work for a company that recognizes we're growing really fast and that sometimes communication can get lost, albeit unintentionally. Compass works very hard to deliver on transparency and information. We have multiple all-hands meetings and other forums to ask questions and get feedback.

Cons

- We're growing so fast and that means there is a lot of work to do. The hours can be long and the work doesn't end. This is an environment where some thrive and others may not. If you love to create, build, and execute at super hyper speed for high impact, this is your place. If that sounds scary, it may not be a great fit for you. - The hiring process can be long and a bit difficult. Because we're growing so quickly, that means a lot of interview rounds to be scheduled and to conduct. There are a lot of people you meet along the way and the questions aren't a breeze to tackle. I recommend being patient, following up with your contacts if you're not hearing from Compass in the timeline you're expecting, and don't be surprised if you get some non-standard interview questions thrown your way.

Pros

-good benefits -flexibility -innovative company/products -you can make your own path as long as you are improving the company, however don't expect to be readily promoted. You need to work for it. -the agents can be a lot but they are pretty great once you get to know them

Cons

-Management is a boy's club, but they are improving on that front with our new COO. -The culture is weird. There are a lot of smart and interesting people at Compass, but there is a huge disconnect between the different teams/departments. There needs to be more than a happy hour here and there to fix that. -The engineering team is talented, but Product needs to invest more time, energy, and resources into user research/UX. Our primary users work in the building and somehow we are still forcing half-baked products down their throats.
