Pros

Flexible schedule, autonomy, patients and families so grateful for the care they receive. There's not enough words to describe how gratifying it is to help care for someone during their precious last few days of life. Overall a good company. If hospice is what you want to do, this is the company to work for. You won't find a better one.

Cons

Long hours, massive amounts of paperwork, company still not using electronic medical records (REALLY???), being on call can be very stressful, difficult to do this job with a young family unless you have lots of support, very little opportunity for advancement

Pros

Work with RNs & LPNs in Call Center, some flexibility with hours, helping & supporting patients & their families 24 hours a day. Able to contact local on-call nurses & other supporting staff after hours, DME companies, and license reimbursement for other states.

Cons

No advancement, not enough staff (nurses, customer service reps) within the department, to cover shifts. Lack of communication with Department Manager & hierarchy. No pay negotiating unless a nurse. Dept Manager communicates better with nurses & is intimidated by higher educated nonclinical staff & Mgr feels threatened & insecurity.

Pros

They operate fully by the rules and adhere to all the Medicare guidelines. Good base salary. Training process is solid. Laptop and phone provided.

Cons

If you get an undesirable territory (one that happens to be heavily physician driven and ridiculously political, for instance), best of luck. The numbers they expect you to pull in on a monthly basis are often times unrealistic/unattainable. Sometimes there are good months, sometimes there are slower months. That's the way it goes in healthcare. Management and the bigwigs in Nashville don't care. Hit your numbers, or you're on your way out. They'll try telling you it's about patient care, helping families, etc... don't be fooled - it's ALL about the numbers. You will find this out during the frequent sales meetings, as the term "numbers" seems to be quite the common theme with this company. Base salary is solid, but don't plan on getting your monthly bonuses, unless you have a desirable territory with medical directors working with you.
