Complexity and New Leadership

Pros

Skills such as 'Problem Solving' and 'Effective Communication' are perhaps more effectively honed when faced with challenges. The multi-line of business complexity, limited job-specific training, and a 'do-it-yourself' approach to IT needs presents managers and their employees with opportunities for being resourceful. The culture benefits the self-led.

Cons

- Not a routine precedence to promote from within. - Owned by a Private Equity firm that has addressed business capital needs at a measured pace. - Unstable leadership; recurring turn over at the top (Executive and Senior Leadership). 'Trickle Down Effect' of 'Tone at the Top' has impact across the organization. Changing the tone, while sometimes a vital necessity, can deflate morale, foster job uncertainty, and result in re-work (to suit new mgmt's needs/preferences).

Pros

If you have a heartbeat you can get a job at CompuCom. Good place to start a career and learn skills

Cons

If you have a heartbeat you can get a job at CompuCom. No company culture for retaining top talent. Pay raises pretty much non-existent since 2007. Most managers are hired from outside of the company which leaves very little room for upward mobility. If you are fortunate enough to be promoted to management, you are stuck dealing with underpaid and under-motivated people. Get in, get experience, get out.

Pros

Decent pay. No micromanaging whatsoever. All the certifications you could ever want are paid for by the company. It seems they pay you all the certifications abs training you could ever want or need to thrive in the IT industry. Mileage pay is pretty decent. Not the best, but decent. Both my manager and my team lead are really cool funny guys that really show us that we as techs are appreciated.

Cons

Huge communication breakdown at times. Hard to find the right answers. Sometimes asking a question either gets you a vague one word answer or no answer at all. Not always guaranteed work for the day, though they promise 40 hours a week. Time keeping system sucks in a huge way. There are some idiots working for this company, both as management and as techs. Seriously, I'm not sure who hired these people, but they make the company look bad when five different techs work on a single ticket, only to have the sixth tech clean up the messes and actually fix the issue. They will literally hire anyone who can just about spell computer, regardless of skill. (Pro for some)
