Cons

Management are prone to Groupthink. This leads to dysfunctional decision-making. There was zero Staff development and pay was appalling in accordance to industry pay grade. Ineffective leadership and full of old school boy misogynist who know that they need to change their business style but scared of doing so, because it shows how much they lack in Management skills. Also if you were not located in their Headquarters or if your face didn't fit. You were Isolated, Blackballed or even bullied. Very materialistic and judged what you wore or drove or if you had a Holiday home abroad instead of your personality, experience or ideas. Rumour Mongering so they can rule by division of staff not unifying them as a team. Also Quantity not quality of work. In short they do not care about the general wellbeing of the Staff or the Customer in which they serve. There HR department are nothing short of timewasters. And yearly review is not modelled for 1st or 2nd level support teams. In short if you value productive, Well organised, and an organisation that you can grow as a person and feel that you are part of a team that is valued and listen too. Then this place is not for you. However if you have the following ineffective leadership, Shows no vision, Rumour Mongering, Trouble Making, Lack of staff development, Quantity not quality of work, setting false and too high expectation. P.S. I am a very unhappy and bitter former staff member of Computacenter, who was kept in the dark bullied and patronised for a better part of 2 years. But I have found that with self-belief and a positive attitude you can find a company and a career that will value you as a human being. And not seen as a machine.

Great People making it work

Pros

The great people make Computacenter a good place to work. The company has grown quite rapidly over the last 20 years and has been an interesting place to be whilst the mix of business has moved from pure sale of computer equipment to a services based business. I built some firm friendships there and will definitely miss some of the people I've worked with for many years.

Cons

When I joined Computacenter a long time ago it still felt like a small company that was doing very well. Since then there have been growing pains as the mix of business has changed and the size of customer has increased (in both size and complexity). There have been occasions where the size of the company has caused issues with cottage industries appearing in organisational silos rather than a more joined up group approach to doing business internationally. There have also been regular restructures to try and evolve the business, which inevitably create short term confusion at the lower levels of management (where I spent my time).
