Pros

There are no, repeat NO good reasons to work at Computacenter.

Cons

I am in agreement with all of the cons already stated, but must reiterate a few noteworthy ones. Resource managers are completely non-technical. Not a problem unless, as is the case, you have to sit through an 'Eface' review and convince them why you are better than they think you are. An absolute farce. As is the MOS system of time reporting, which even has an entry in the time reporting form to record the time you spent reporting it. That one is easy, write a little script to submit your BS form at 17:30 every day and shove off home at 16:00. The resource managers are aggressive, uncaring and unresponsive ignoramii, who think nothing of driving 40 miles to hand you a letter to tell you that you are on 'monitor' for having half a day's medical appointment (seriously) then driving another 40 miles a month later to hand you a letter telling you that your attendance has been satisfactory and you are 'off monitor' . When we were tupe'd over (from IBM) we were enticed with trips to Barcelona, Sweden etc, but of course that all went by the board when they found they were way over budget on the account. So I guess financial ineptitude comes into it. Basically, they are making the same mistakes as their predecessors, which will inevitably result in an early exit. However, I must echo the dark humour of other writers regarding the CEO, Mike Norris's weekly newsletter. It's like Blackadder talking to Baldrick. He has a villa in Spain (he told us about it), a new kitchen in the villa which is the same as his neighbour's and which cost a fortune, he got 'selected' to carry the Olympic torch, (I doubt if he actually RAN with it), he has so many airmiles he could never spend them all, he plays golf whilst we all graft...you get the picture, noses well and truly rubbed in it.

Pros

Nice fish in Lake !!

Cons

Too many to list - but if you have a soul it WILL be destroyed here. If you are in IT and are considering a move to this outfit then trust me unemployment is a better option. The 'management' which is the weakest you will ever experience don't give a monkies about the staff. Amongst a mass of initiatives to demoralise you, cutting the holiday entitlement in half (via a letter) with no consultation, watching staff leave in their droves, sick of the culture, and then not replacing them just to save money, not caring at all that this puts extra pressure on the staff left. They will allow staff to work solo completely overwhelmed with work rather than pay overtime and then bungling 'managers' will ask you in 'for a meeting' if you make the simplest of mistakes. Oh and you will be working a 24/7 rota for ZERO shift pay - nothing! and for working Christmas ? here's a very generous 50 quid !!!! Couple that with very low wages and this becomes a job to avoid at all costs! Clueless shift 'management' with ideas well above their ability levels spend their shifts either asleep or watching TV or wondering what the hell is going on whilst the staff that actually have a bit of talent (but are now walking away) get on with the work. That's when they are not coming in and leaving when they feel like it! There are absolutely zero benefits in the package. Nothing !! Everything has to be paid for by the employee. The company car scheme is actually a money loss making exercise from day 1! There is an hilarious annual review procedure called Eface - my cat could up with something more intelligent and coherent if it could be bothered! Mind bogglingly clumsy but allows the management here to supress what is already very low pay. Thens theres the weekly 'get together' every Wednesday - which is a huge opportunity to bore the pants off of 150+ people in one hit! NO-ONE CARES - they attend because they are told to! Then there are the soul destroying checks placed upon all the staff - want a break, you have to record it, every task has to be timed to ensure you are not wasting time, then you must record the time you spent recording the time you spent etc etc - its like Mumbai meets Hatfield ! But there is surprisingly a plus working here every Friday - it comes in the form of an hilarious cringeworthy email from Paul Norris the CEO where he preaches to his lowly paid minions about how great his life is, who he dined with in first class that week, which world class golf course he played on that week, where he's flying to that week, how caviar leaves a bitter taste if not with the right vintage etc etc. How we're all one team (which not a single CC employee I have met believes for a second!) Mr Norris STOP IT ! You are making a complete fool of yourself and of those that actually read it, I'm surprised you can't hear the laughter from whatever luxury island you've landed on! NO-ONE I met, and I mean no-one (barring the bizarre shift manager role), is happy here. YOU will not be happy here !

Pros

- No dress code: People don't care how you look like. - Culture of tolerance and respect due to multi-cultural environment - MGMT open to listen to your suggestions (although not everything - even it would make sense - can be implemented due to business related constraints) - Approach to be consistent and fair to everyone - Interesting benefits: Private Healthcare, Ticket Restaurante, Ticket Transporte, Ticket Guarderia - Availibility to facilitate work/life balance - Relaxed working environment - Has a workers council to supervise compliance with Spanish legislation and provide consultance and advice in legal matters

Cons

- Salaries could be a bit more competetive - Rewarding system has been not really interesting. Hopefully a recent process change makes it a bit easier for hard-working employees to get some financial recognizition. - Internal punctuality policy is very harsh but there is a review underway.
