Horrible Managers

Pros

Some workers are very good at what they do. Building is located in Orlando.

Cons

No work life balance. Managers question when you leave on time and give workers a hard time when requesting PTO for the holidays. Management lacks the basic management skills which causes system requirements to constantly change while engineers are designing to older specs. The CEO and GM bark at current processes, then change the processes on a whim without any review, and yell at engineers when these processes become worse. The office environment feels like a group of people who hate each other but are forced to play nice.

Pros

This is a good company on paper. The pay is decent and the vacation time is good. This company may be good for anyone who is currently in-between jobs. But never stop applying for better opportunities elsewhere.

Cons

Toxic and hostile work environment. Upper management and engineering managers do not view their employees as professionals. Company policy mimics a grade schooler's rule book. There are core hours but it seems to do absolutely nothing. You have to abide by your schedule to a T. However, this does not apply to managers. If you arrive one minute past your scheduled arrival time, you are considered late. You will be written up for this because engineering managers track exempt salaried employees' arrival and departure times via camera clocks. From my experience, engineering managers modify employee’s time sheets so you better check your previous week’s time sheet on Mondays. All the other negative reviews are spot on, so I'll refrain from repeating what was already said.

Pros

Good job security due to working in the 911 domain. Option to WFH full time.

Cons

The majority of the engineering management are immigrants and they run operations like an Indian consulting company. Employees average around 2-3 % raise every year and the bonus is around $800. If you are in operations, you are required to stay on call once a month for 1 full week 24/7. Considering we support 911 applications, management expects you to sit at home and logged in. on average, each year you lose 2 long weekends and either Thanksgiving or Christmas. You are required to work off hours and handle calls in the middle of the night and over weekends. Company does not have standard policies on comp time for holiday work or off-hour work. You are solely at the mercy of your manager when it comes to comp time or performance reviews. Managers treat immigrant employees at a different standard when compared to Americans. Immigrant bosses expect immigrants to shut up and put in extra hours and they are ok with others taking time off. If you complain it will show up in your performance review.
