      * Tuition reimbursement program helped pay my way through graduate school * Flexible scheduling allows me to work around important appointments * Good benefits * Honest & hard-working co-workers * Challenging work * Non-profit company means focus is on quality of work, not bottom line

      * Weak business development is leading to downsizing * Communication from leadership is weak (but growing)

      Pros

      CTC and its for-profit affiliate EVC, genuinely care about the well-being of the employees and their personal growth. Corporate values stress the pursuit of excellence in all facets of our work whether it is performance on behalf of our clients or the Safety culture that becomes engrained in the staff as they look out for one another. The management teams of both organizations "walk the walk" and engage with employees and encourage their aspirations.

      Cons

      Like any government contractor doing applied research and development, CTC has been subject to the vagaries of the federal budget process or lack thereof over the past 8 years. That has adversely affected staffing levels and morale as employees see long-term colleagues leave and workloads have increased.

      Pros

      Good work, above industry pay, very flexible work hours and paid leave. If you're being hired specifically to work on a contract you can be confident you'll be treated well for the length of that contract and roll the dice on getting on a new one.

      Cons

      CTC is primarily a government contractor and that market is very competitive. There is a lot of uncertainty regarding contact continuation or winning new work. If you're willing to risk possible furlough or layoff at the end of your contracts, you can weather the storm, but if this is your only job, you better have a backup plan.
