Miserable.

Pros

You're working for a very prestigious company that looks good on your resume. Good training ground for sales assistants - go to work anywhere else and it'll feel like a vacation.

Cons

Having worked at a few of the magazines in the building, I can attest to the fact that overall, the employees here are awful. It's like being in high school -- there are cliques around every corner, closed-door conversations going on all the time, and constant whispering. You also live in a constant state of fear. Will your publisher be switched tomorrow? Will your magazine fold? Will you be laid off because you didn't make April paging? Who knows.

Too many freelancers - shows disrespect for workforce.

Pros

Prestigious magazine/company, a way to get your foot in the door, etc

Cons

No compensation, long work days (sometimes well over 12 hours a day), poor treatment, mind-numbing work (such as sorting bins after bin of mismatched designer socks for weeks), etc.
