Pros

Middle management is very good at Conductor. I worked at Conductor for 3 years and I only knew one or two people who disliked their managers.

Cons

- Upper management (C-Suite) has genuinely nice people in it, but they are completely dysfunctional as execs. They base company strategy on vibes, don't make any big plans in advance, and then panic when strategies don't work right away. Company/sales/CS strategy changes wildly every 6 months or so because of this. This is what causes every other problem at the company -- everyone there is overworked and underpaid. Executives' solution to every problem is to hustle harder (the company used to be owned by WeWork, and it shows) and make employees pull all nighters to re-do finished work. -The salary you get when you're hired will be your salary forever. The only way I heard of anyone getting a substantial raise was through a competing offer. This is why so many top employees have left the company: they got competing offers and then realized they would be better off elsewhere. - No job security. The company has been through 6 or 7 rounds of layoffs in the last 2 years. - No people-first culture, despite all the lip service. The CEO forced a return to office for 4 days per week despite this being extremely unpopular among employees. Some employees have to come in 4 days per week; others can work from home with no clear reason for this besides favoritism. There is no work/life balance; you will get emails and calls from senior leaders at all hours of the night and weekend.

Pros

Free healthy snacks in the office. Global team. Super SEO focused if you’re a big fan of that.

Cons

I am glad to be gone from Conductor. I would recommend for you to look elsewhere. Conductor calls itself a tech company. It works more like an agency. There a lot of SEO experts who come from the agency side or have never worked anywhere besides Conductor. Many of the positive reviews come from these people. Yes, they think Conductor is a great place to work but it is only because they have bad agency experiences to compare it to. Conductor also used to be much more fun 10 years ago and the culture and business health is not what it used to be. Conductor does not have a good work-life balance. You can expect to receive internal emails or texts at all hours and all days of the week. Yes there is unlimited PTO but you will work on vacation. The leadership team cares too much which causes them to be micromanagers. They hire you but don’t trust you, or will send you on a wild goose chase for a project but never ask about it again. This is very demoralizing. The CEO is also the founder. He is a typical zany tech bro who treats the company as his baby. This can cause him to act like a despot. There has been 100% turnover in the executive leadership team within 2 years. That should tell you all you need to know. There have been multiple small rounds of layoffs (5 in a little over a year). The CEO required a return to office even though it was not a popular idea. The office benefits him personally so he made it a requirement. These two things have led to poor morale and a feeling that the company does not care about employees. Everyone has struggled to hit their numbers in recent history which makes it hard to justify staying to suffer through all of the other negative aspects.
