Toxic culture, puts $$$ before student success

Pros

Many very intelligent, passionate, caring people work here.

Cons

1. Toxic culture - just do what you are told if you want to make it, or even think about a promotion. 2. HR is the most dysfunctional I've ever seen in a 20 year career. Just horrible - a revolving door of employees who don't care, a leader who continues to get ahead inexplicably. 3. My manager for 3+ years was the worst I've ever had - indecisive, backstabbing, disorganized, and second-guessing my and others' work and decisions constantly. 4. VERY POOR student outcomes at its schools. The problem is NOT the schools and their employees - Connections charges the schools far too much and starves the schools of their state funding. 5. Very easy decision to resign. This place is awful.

Secondary Teacher

Pros

Some flexibility, no classroom management and only required to meet with whole class once a week (per section).

Cons

Too many students per teacher, too many sections, grading is more then advertised in subjects like social studies and English. Very little control over projects (changing the assigned portfolios requires many webmails and you can not remove the "wrong" project from students courses). No transparent salary schedule so biases happen (Men where getting paid more then women at my school when compared by similar experience/education). Also, no clear company rules about working from home. My handbook said one thing and my principal said something different. Even though you are told you will do less work then in a classroom all my co-workers agreed that we where doing more.
