Pros

Management is very friendly. You get a relatively high salary for a very simple job. Everyone working there is young and motivated and interesting but...

Cons

those interesting people don't stay long because almost everyone working there is waiting to find a teaching job somewhere else and leaves as soon as they do. Also, this was supposed to be a job about academic placement, but you are on the phone non-stop (except for lunch) all day, often answering questions that have nothing to do with the placement that you were hired to do--people will call you "customer service" on the phone, even though most people in your deparement have multiple degrees in education or psychology and customer service is not your job.

Pros

The only pro I can think of at this point is that you can work from home.

Cons

As an Academic Placement Advisor, we are said to do the job of a counselor when thye first hire you, but in reality we are nothing more than a glorified call center person. Parents constantly call and berate you and cuss at you. We are in a queue all day and they micro manage you all day. The Quality Aaurance Team is a joke. They pick your worst calls and daily reports and their expectations are unrealistic. No one holds the Quality Assurance team accountable and they mispell words and expect you to spell perfectly. The salary here is horrible at 18.75 an hour. The turn over rate at this company is pretty high and this should tell you something. We had almost the whole department quit this past summer. The counselors and principals at the schools don’t do their jobs and the parents call and gripe us out.
