Pros

Decent compensation Some technically strong individuals outside the SRE team

Cons

Toxic leadership in SRE Favouritism over merit Political and insecure work environment Lack of fair performance evaluation I observed severe issues within the SRE team, particularly with leadership. The SRE leads demonstrate blatant favoritism, often supporting individuals with poor technical knowledge while sidelining those who are actually competent. Decisions are driven more by personal bias and office politics than by merit or performance. Several team members were let go, not due to performance, but seemingly because of personal grudges held by the SRE technical lead. This created a hostile and insecure environment, where speaking up or disagreeing with certain individuals could cost you your job. Morale was constantly low, and collaboration suffered as a result of this toxic culture. For anyone considering a role in this team, I would strongly advise asking direct questions about team dynamics and leadership during the interview process.

Pros

Free tea/coffee, cheap fuel (when it's not contaminated)

Cons

Lack of care No progression unless you're someone high ups friend Micro managed beyond belief Zero trust Treat people like animals, having meetings about people approaching 2 years and deciding behind closed doors if they want to keep them or not. If they decide not to, they sack you on the spot with no warning or reason (I've seen this many many times) Dish out contaminated fuel that they drain from the cars (again, I have lots of proof of this). Zero sick pay, minimum holidays, no bonuses, no car allowances or company cars, very poor benefits that they think is good but it's actually less than the industry standard! Managers that look at you based on your current title instead of the knowledge you bring. I'm bored of typing now but I have pages of cons!
