Do not join IT department under lady managers

Pros

You have a job till you find a new job

Cons

Do not join company if you are offered job under a lady manager in IT department. Because they are fickle minded, irresponsible, indecisive, bad at management, misinterprets communication, tries to play blame game by escaping their own responsibilities as a leader and hold their team member responsible for any sort of issue even if it is due to your leader not sharing information/deadlines/meeting outcomes with you. Lady Managers exploits company policy to fire employees. The strategy they use is reach out to project members with whom the employee haven't or least worked seeking NEGATIVE feedback ONLY against the employee. Upper management blindly trusts the managers, so whatever these ladies portrays to upper management is believed including fake or misrepresentation of facts or assumptions in their mind. This is not generalized on one instance but on multiple instances in company especially with BA & QA Lady managers. UTD students, CAUTION: Apart from development positions, there is no future for you in any other area in terms of learning or salary, so better don't try here. (Because almost all development teams are led by Male managers). Be prepared to hear this for any of your suggestions or issues you raise "This is how Copart works". Company makes no effort to retain their employees, as they don't need to because they don't have critical work in terms or business or technology. Almost everyone in the company (IT department), except family guys are waiting and trying to switch company including Developers.

Pros

I learned a lot about an industry I didn't know anything about. The information can assist me in my personal life as far as auctions, insurance claims and titles.

Cons

Management sucks! The turn over rate for this company is utterly ridiculous. I was there for almost 4 years and I can't count on my fingers and toes how many people were fired! Management will make up reasons to fire you, and go as far as to lie! The job itself is not hard, but management makes it difficult. Its sad when the employees know more than the managers. Its also bad when the attitude of management is so bad that the customers question the employees about it. Although this is a large company the customers are regulars; and they voice their opinions about how management treats the employees. However; management doesn't care. It was actually enjoyable work, but management made it difficult to simply go to work, earn a living, and go home. No one wants to work for a company where you have to worry about if you will have a job the next day due to no fault of your own. I would NEVER recommend anyone to work for this company! Working and providing for your family should never be as hard as they make it.

Pros

-The front line staff are good people. They are what made working for Copart barable. -Okay Pay -ESPP

Cons

-Current employees in constant fear of losing jobs. -You will be expected to work many, many hours. You will also have to drop any prior commitments at the drop of a hat in order to satisfy managers. Your sick child will just have to tough it out. -Would rather over work/ underpay employees rather than hire additional employees. -Cut throat management and executives. They try very, very hard to pretend that they are normal, down to earth people just like the rest of us. Do not be fooled, management and execs will get you out of there faster than you can blink, and will literally lie to do so. Absent for your childs surgery? Sorry, fired. Absent due to pregnancy dificulties? Sorry, fired. 0 previous warnings or write ups? Yeah, you're fired. Family member dying int he hospital? Nope, too much work to do sorry. Manager just doesn't like you in general? Don't worry, they can just make up a few lies to get you fired. I saw all of these instances happen in front of me while I was there. I promise, no matter how much they pretend, they absolutely, do. not. care. about. you. -Quick to pile on additional work responsibilities (due to firing others), but not give any compensation for it. THEN once they see you can get that persons work done too, why would they hire another employee? You got it. -WIll hire 50 employees at a time, realize the project is not proceeding at planned, then get rid of them all. It's souless and wrong. There are many more examples, but these are just some of the golden ones. -As mentioned above, there are not enough employees, which leads to, during the absense of one, it being a mad house to try and get all of the work done. -They will promise you that there is SO much advancement oppurtunity. Which is a lie, they also don't tell you that you better know the right people in order to see any sort of advancement, otherwise, just shut up and do your job.
