Pros

Challenging work environment at the Yards and at Corporate office. Hard working respectful environment. Executive leadership has risen through the ranks and has a clear understanding of the business. Unique business model. Copart is poised for US and international growth and is financially solid.

Cons

Corporate office personnel are very scared after a series of layoffs scaling back certain business areas. Credible Fear of more reductions in force is now sickening the corporate office work productivity and the physical health of some employees. Some leadership seem to be embracing a "when they're down kick 'em harder" mentality to do more work with less personnel.

Thanks for your post. I'd like to take a moment to address the concerns you noted in your "cons" section as there has been a great deal of change in the Corporate office over the past year or so, many of which were a result of a change in number of technology projects that resulted in some layoffs. The decision to reduce staff is not one we take lightly and it is not our intent to needlessly lose talented employees. During the layoffs we made every effort to assist the impacted employees in finding other opportunities. We also made sure that we communicated with the employees who were not displaced to make sure everyone understood that we were looking to protect jobs. I would encourage any employee who is concerned about the security of their role with Copart to come and see me and discuss their concerns. We most certainly do not want our people to be worried to the point of making themselves ill if they are concerned about their future with the company. We have--and will continue to--communicate openly with our employees about the business and it is our intent to keep highly talented people employed so long as the business need exists to do so. The best advice I can give you is to not sit and worry but rather seek out the facts and continue to be an active player on the team. I hope you'll stop by my office or give me or any of the Leadership Team a call so we can discuss any concerns you have. When all is said and done, we'll prove that we intend to keep and grow top talent. Rory Seidens VP-Human Resources

Pros

Growing company, good company culture (in theory if not practice), constant striving to make technology and market placement better, which leads to enthusiasm from portion of workforce that wants to be with growing company.

Cons

Management always takes care of management first, with little regard to affect on labor -- including big company move from Texas to California.
