Pros

Interesting and impactful industry (cold-chain)

Cons

While the industry and individual contributor work can be engaging, there is a lack of clear alignment at the leadership level regarding long-term goals and priorities. Direction and decision-making can feel inconsistent, making it difficult to understand what success truly looks like. Processes have become increasingly metrics-driven in a way that can feel more restrictive than enabling. While performance tracking is important, the current approach can reduce autonomy and slow execution rather than support it. Compensation is another significant challenge. Pay growth does not meaningfully reflect individual performance, impact, or outcomes. Increases tend to be limited to modest cost-of-living adjustments, which makes sustained motivation difficult over time. Career progression is also very limited. There is little to no path beyond the current senior-level role, with no clearly defined next-level titles or compensation bands. This creates a hard ceiling on both career growth and earning potential, regardless of performance or tenure. There is an opportunity to better clarify roles and responsibilities across management layers and to establish clearer growth frameworks. Stronger communication, alignment, and trust between leadership and teams would go a long way toward improving morale and retention.

Pros

The compensation and benefits package provided by the company is fair and aligns with industry standards. While not exceptional, it is generally adequate for the nature of the work. Additionally, some members of the Human Resources team are courteous and approachable, showing a sincere effort to assist employees when possible.

Cons

I do not recommend seeking employment at the Scroll Plant in Ava, MO. The facility suffers from chronic mismanagement, characterized by poor communication, inconsistent leadership, and a lack of strategic direction. Interpersonal drama is commonplace, often overshadowing daily operations and contributing to a tense and unprofessional work environment. One particularly troubling aspect is management’s apparent pride in the plant's high employee turnover rate—leadership has even referred to it as a 'revolving door,' treating constant attrition as normal rather than addressing the root causes. Instead of supporting their workforce, management routinely blames machine operators for systemic issues. For example, operators have been told they are responsible for as much as $4 million in annual repair costs, an accusation that reflects a culture of scapegoating rather than collaborative problem-solving. This tendency to ‘swing down’—shifting blame to those on the front lines instead of taking ownership at the leadership level—undermines morale, accountability, and any real potential for growth or improvement. As a result, the work environment becomes increasingly unstable, with little incentive for employees to stay long-term.

Pros

Hybrid-ish work...? Nice Office Nice Office amenities

Cons

- Incompetent Leadership They are very out of sync and of no help. You will lose morale and confidence after hearing "I don't know so many times". - Horrible Culture The entire country felt the changes. Imagine the fear mongering of upper management opening their door so the office can hear them screaming at other teams on purpose. They treat 25 year veterans like children. Public shaming is par for the course. - Low Pay The same positions at other similar companies will garner 30% higher pay easily. Expect 1-3% yearly raises. - Antiquated Benefits The benefits are outdated and expensive. While modern companies cover a good amount for the benefits, they do not. It's difficult grasping how expensive they are.
