Technology Center Focused Review

Pros

Above Average Benefits Great profit sharing plans

Cons

This review is focused on the technology center There were more Vice Presidents of Technology (in some form or another) than full time employees. Most never leave their offices. After many years managing operations I still had no idea what most of them did all day. At least 2 seemed to stare at their screens. You are required to wear full suit and tie, even if you are crawling under desks or raised floors to run cabling If you are employed here long enough you will be promoted, regardless of your skill set or merit. I saw first hand an employee whine about a promotion and was given one. It was merely a title change, no additional roles or duties. Purely an act of appeasement. This company has a very heavy BiC (Butt in Chair) mentality. If you are up all night fixing an emergency issue, you are still required to be working the next day, all day. During your on call time (which depending on the number of full time bodies could be between 1 week a month or 4 weeks a month) don't expect to sleep much, constant issues or operator error. Progress is hindered by specific VP's in the technology center. They are very entrenched in their ways and will not budge. Your vacations are given in 2 week blocks each year, you *must* take all 2 weeks at once. During my time, the culture of the technology center was the most off putting place I've ever been employed. No one talks for fear of reprimand, employees are not cordial to each other. VP's rule with a "my way or the highway" mentality. Communication between teams was non-existent. Employees are mostly treated as children. Overall, the Technology center was the worst employment experience I've ever endured. I've never hated coming into work more than I did here. Leaving was the best decision I've ever made. Avoid this place at all costs.
