Pros

I spent 13 years at Corning in various roles. I enjoyed every year and honestly thought I would retire from Corning. Very friendly work environment, love the technology and innovation from the company. Products are amazing.

Cons

Back in late 2013, IT had a major reorg. Senior leadership was clueless and the newly appointed managers in the lower ranks were equally clueless. This turned a job that I loved into one I couldn't wait to get out of. New policies were rediculous and had no logic to them. Worse, they were NOT equally applied to everyone.

Pros

Corning is a 164 year old company that has survived and thrived through its dedication to innovation and change. It is responsible in part for four of the greatest life changing inventions in history, the electric light bulb, TV, fiber optics and flat screen display. It pays attention to its employees and views them as an essential asset to their success. Great environment for a workaholic.

Cons

The company is subject to frequent wide swings in its performance leading to periodic layoffs, followed by a fast ramp up usually within one year. In my quarter century with them, I experienced 9 of these events. You had better be a workaholic to work here.
