Pros

Industry leader. Very high tech oriented. Hard working, high integrity competitive culture. You can move far and fast in this company, or just be a solid contributor. It's entirely up to you. I liked the company enough to work there twice - had left for a career opportunity but came back a couple years later.

Cons

Large organization that can be challenging to move around in. Lots of functional silos. Different businesses have very different cultures and standards.

Pros

The pay and benefits are competitive, there are a couple good locations to work. Travel is readily available for those who are willing. If you are willing to relocate, there are many opportunities for advancement.

Cons

Work-life balance is not good. Even if you work your butt off to get your work done, you are still judged for working less than 50 hours a week. Many operations are moving to Asia - unsure of long-term american growth. The company is conservative, not a lot of forward-thinking, even though everyone seems to think Corning is the best in the world. Doesn't always feel like a high-tech industry.
