Pros

If you are in a managerial position, you will have good work-life balance.

Cons

It's usually a hit or miss with you managers and project leads. Most mangers don't have a clue what is going on. If you do well, they will take your credit away, and if you don't they will fire you and blame everything on you. I had 3 coworkers leave because of this issue. I was told by people who worked here for over 20 years that Corning used to be better about issues but lately it's just too much politics. You have to suck up and play the game. Stay away if you want to work hard at a decent job with credit. The town is great if you have family (younger kids), but if you are young or have kids that are in their teens, there's really not much going on here.

Pros

Diversity of work, always. I was able to work in all aspects of Corning during the time I was in the fiber optic manufacturing facility. Never a boring moment.

Cons

Crushes (burn out/lay off) the people that works for it. While building the Concord plant most of the engineers were displaced from the project because of poor planning. They were given options to go to other Corning facilities or leave the company. Many engineers left because of lack of trust and burnout.

Very Enjoyable Co-op Experience

Pros

Excellent co-workers and environment, everyone looked out for each other and were very approachable. Nature of the work keeps you on your toes as each system is completely custom.

Cons

A lot of downtime when production slowed down and management didn't necessarily utilize the co-ops. No formal introduction to the software used on systems so you are forced to quickly familiarize yourself with its interface.
