Pros
I want to take this opportunity to give a very heart felt thank you to my Associates at Harbor View in Kingwood, Tx. I felt welcome my very first day, but anyone's first day at the House Of Blues for the company Christmas party would say the same. One of many great things I've experienced with this company in my short four months. I started strong out of the gate and in saying that, I had such a strong supporting cast around me. My Associates worked as a team to ensure success was possible for everyone, I could also see residents that had smiles on their faces when speaking with our staff for whatever reason. I want to be clear right now with those who are reading this, and anyone who has had any success in property management, I'm not in anyway looking for a raise or wanting to leap to a more compensated role,so In saying that, I truly felt this was the right fit for me. Also, the above lines for those of us who know how challenging it can be on a daily basis with all that goes on. I've been fortunate with the team I have around me, I only want to make the right decisions, that's just me, but as we all know that's not always the case when dealing with the everyday responsibilities that come with signing your name on the dotted line and wearing the companies name on your chest. I've had to give up somethings to ensure our residents were given the respect and attention they been promised as a resident here at Cortland. Many late nights, lots and lots of after hours calls, and we all know what things can be like when we hear the words "Corporate is coming" Everyone reading this dreads the weeks in preparation for corporate walk troughs. The PROS to me, are the intangibles also known as the little things, that go along way in this business. We all have our favorites, for me I want to say, the breakfast or the lunches we sometimes receive.or, I also can appreciate getting together as a team, other wise known as a Huddle where discussions about our property and the up and coming things that Cortland plans deliver on. Most important though, would have to be when I get that oh so important information needed from the ones around me, weather it be "its the tub in the master bathroom that needs the work" or "be care full, they have cats will run for the door" sometimes its those (little things) that can be the difference in a job taking all day or just a few minutes. I also love it when I'm the maintenance tech and my assistant manager has to show me how to open the key machine. I say that to say this, Cortland and Harbor View have been a blessing for me and I'm expressing this because it has been chaotic at times and I'm not always able to multi task in every direction that sometimes asked of me, but those around me have went out of there way, to show me that I'm appreciated and needed day in and day out. for that I give thanks to my team.
Cons
It's up to you, how you want to spend your time and that in itself can be the con if you allow it. We all have had those days we want to forget and we all have made mistakes that require us to be mindful, because those mistakes effect not just me(the one who made the mistake) but to everyone counting on me to deliver. I guess being raised by a pack of wolves taught me to be tough on myself, but I'm learning from my team that its ok to make a mistake here and there. I sometimes have to be told over and over again. Again I will say this, its up to you, to get up and be an asset or lay down and become a liability. We have many things in this profession that can take our emotions and feelings to a far out place and its very easy to become side tracked and upset when nothing for you will go right on that one particular day. Those infact are some of the most important days, but it could be a con if we don't learn the lesson that goes with our mistakes. I thank those positive, friendly, and bubbly associates that can't seem to do anything' but put a smile on your face. To the team, please continue to mold me into the partner you saw when you hired me.
