      Was an enjoyable place to work before acquisition

      Pros

      The people I worked with on a daily basis were great and made the job better than it had any right to be.

      Cons

      Before CPI the place was alright, all things considered. A somewhat small, stable company in a strong industry. After Bill Jones sold out, the place changed for the worse. Where Bill saw each part of the company as essential, CPI does not. It was clear early on that the new leaders didn't really have any big plans for the engineering teams. It was more that CA had a really well developed network of field offices that CPI wanted. The new corporate "culture" is steeped in platitudes and reverence for the founder that I found ridiculous.

      Pros

      - Diversity of work (everyone wears 5 hats) - Interesting technology and products

      Cons

      - Little to no support structure. Expect to be on your own in most cases. - Low expectations and morale. Lots of departures and very few new hires. - Teams are spread thin across multiple time zones, and CPI has a poor track record managing across them. As an example, the Engineering Org alone (~300 people) is spread across the US (EST, CST and MST), Mexico, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Ukraine and India.

      Average benefits, time off, retirement, good at process management requirements

      Cons

      Sometimes it is about checking off boxes more than process for its real benefit Company doesn't seem to care about people any longer Crane cut benefits for us who were part of MEI, cut retirement too Communication is terrible, trust is non-existent, morale is terrible and I know many are looking to leave
