People - mainly good peeps Culture - midwestern and friendly Values - see above Bonus structure - works well for most in the company Technology leadership - the top folks are good. Struggles in middle management.

Cons

Lumpy business model Hard to compete with supercomputing / HPC in the cloud Grumpy manager(s) make for a tough work environment Not much room for growth or moving up unless you're in the inner circle of engineering; it's an engineering compay Unknows about HPE acquisition

Pros

You get to work on state of the art technologies, great people, solid benefits and sometimes get to travel the country, or world, to install supercomputers. Great opportunity for learning large linux systems, networking and storage systems.

Cons

The do not offer increased salaries when promoting within. Was offered a job with more responsibility, demand for more time, skill, offered same pay. This is common within the company. Major flaw.

The people are some of the smartest you'll meet. You really never stop learning. A good number of lower-level managers in R&D are hands-on and have a good grasp of technical knowledge.

Cons

Recently acquired by HPE. Your job satisfaction will depend heavily on your management, moreso than some other jobs. This may have changed after the acquisition, but: pitiful bonuses.
