Can't Pull the Wool Over My Eyes

Pros

What was great was the people, yet be prepared to lose great friends because you stopped drinking the Kool-Aid.

Cons

It's very sad to see employees who have worked for this company 5+ years leave because they are tired of their hard work going unnoticed. People don't get promoted here based on their skills. It depends on what clique you're in. Most of the VP's are in their positions because they stepped over other qualified individuals. It wasn't because they were the best fit for the jobs, it was because they're close personal friends with leadership. If the owner is so worried about employee retention maybe he should learn his employees names. Especially the ones who poured everything into their jobs.

Pros

This is a great and fun place to work. It's no easy job!! I work very hard. People care about me and that's something new for me.

Cons

They've made it a big deal to have people in the right seat. My vp was moved yesterday to a different area. I don't like that they don't give managers a chance. She was great. I don't make much money. She always talked to me and made me feel good about things. I even took a problem to her and she fixed it. I think she was doing what me and my co workers needed. CLS needs to give these people a chance.

We were able to make two VP positions out of one due to the growing size and demands of the job. We do feel strongly about having the right people in the right seat. This new role is dedicated to an incredibly crucial aspect of our business and we are excited about the great initiatives ahead!

Pros

I have enjoyed working at CLS for over a year now, the environment is good, management is friendly and helpful. Room to move up if you work hard and earn it. Also a few amenities that nice, Gym, Cafe, ETC.

Cons

I believe management means well, but I also believe if it came down to it, they would throw you under the bus, rather then take up for you. Granted, this is probably because managers have been fired quite frequently. If thi company can get the process together, they have great potential. If not, they will continue to struggle to grow, all while maintaining a great product.

This is an excellent, accurate review. We have had more turnover in supervisory and management roles than we would like. I assure you it is not by design. Creative Lodging prioritizes promoting from within. Sometimes that works great. Sometimes we take a chance on a staff member who may not be quite ready for the position but can grow into the position quickly. Sometimes we promote someone, and after they get into the supervisor role, they decide they don’t like being in management and choose to leave. To correct this issue, we've implemented further training for our supervisors and managers and a more formal review process for promotions and new hires. As the owner of the company, I take staffing and turnover seriously. As a current staff member who has been here a year, you are very aware that Creative Lodging's NUMBER ONE GOAL FOR THE COMPANY IN 2016 IS TURNOVER AT OR LESS THAN 5% FOR THE YEAR. It's worth noting that the average turnover for most companies is around 20% -- and much higher for high growth companies. The restaurant and hotel industry turnover runs much higher. As of the end of June 2016, we are on track to meet our goal of turnover below 5% for CLS. This includes supervisors and managers at every level as well as all staff members.
