Pros

It's a brilliant and fun bunch of people who (the majority at least) care about and like what they are doing. If you have something to say, you will be heard easily. The bottom line is, if you're a smart, fun, and driven individual, you will have a good time here! What's the most exception about CK is that the management team truly cares about the employees and the company's mission. "Company culture" is thrown around a ton in the tech community, but special shout out to our VP of Talent, I can see the real effort she's putting into maintaining out company culture. As the company expands, it gets harder and harder to feel like a close knit community, but the talent team is trying and I really appreciate it. On the side note, I'm truly surprised by the negative reviews on the interviews. My experience was pretty good -- the recruiter was very responsive, I received phone calls on time as promised, and got to meet all my immediate team members during the interview.

Cons

Maybe it's the fast growth of the company, but things aren't moving as fast as they would be at a small startup. There are a lot of ideas getting thrown around, but it might take a while for anything to materialize because there are a ton of hoops to jump through. Also due to the fast growth, sometimes things seem a bit disorganized. Communication between different teams is not exactly great, sometimes it's difficult to get everybody on the same page at the same time because there's just so much going on.

Rapidly growing startup with lots of potential

Pros

Working at Credit Karma has been a rollercoaster, but a fun and challenging ride! We have snacks on every floor of our building, better options than most startups. We even have eggs! There are weekly executive townhalls where we have an open forum to see new releases, ask questions and hear updates straight from Ken. If we don't want to bring something up, there is an open door policy that I have used many times. I also like that the perks are improving as we grow i.e. gym reimbursement, happy hours, etc.

Cons

It's no secret that Credit Karma is growing, fast. I think sometimes the culture can be seen as more of a word, than an action. But they are really trying. Some departments are still struggling to level up, but I've seen quite a few recent hires that are helping

We appreciate your advice on how we can empower the culture to develop based on our employees. Want to grab a coffee (or tea!)? We'd welcome additional feedback and ideas. It sounds like you value working on our product and enjoy the people. Brainstorming ways to preserve our culture as we grow would be fun. Let me know what you think!

Pros

Employees have tons of latitude and ownership, any time someone challenges the way we are doing things they get a lot of opportunity to fix it. People are super smart and challenge each other a lot. It's a surprisingly strong team given the lack of external visibility to what we work on. The company is almost hilariously successful. Our customers totally love us. Every time I am in an uber and they ask what I do they tell me how much they love credit karma. It's awesome to be in a mission driven company that really resonates with users and also turns in great revenue numbers. My favorite job ever, love it here and recommend it to everyone.

Cons

We have grown really fast and are thin in some areas for a company of our success and size. It's not the most efficient company in the world. A number of first time senior leaders are figuring out how to do it without a lot of coaching.
