Pros

The general culture at Credit Karma is relaxed and comfortable. Employees are open and friendly! It's easy to make real relationships and all the company-sponsored and informal events play large roles in creating that atmosphere. The CEO is around and knows everyone. The company is fairly young, so there really is a lot of room to grow depending on your team. The people here are the best part.

Cons

A lot of micro-managers in each of the departments and lack of transparency in controversial decisions between management and everyone else. The start up vibe means the lack of work-life balance and ridiculous expectations at times. The company is still somewhat flat and young, meaning the managers usually have been there for a while. They have complete say in everything going on in their team, but that doesn't mean everything makes sense or is fair. This ties back to the micro-managers. Benefits and salary are no where near the market standards. The start up "perks" aren't that great compared to its competitors, especially in the Bay Are market - no free meals on a daily basis, no gym memberships or assistance with that, no extra perks for commuters/transportation, no 401K matching, limited PTO days, etc.

Pros

Credit Karma is an amazing place to work. I think it can be difficult to truly appreciate what's going on here if you don't have a lot of experience working elsewhere, but there is huge opportunity as a company and for individual contributors, too. The company has done a great job of hiring people who can not only do their job well, but mesh well with the very fun, open, quirky culture. The founder and his vision are fantastic, and I always believe that the fish stinks from the head -- what's going on at the top is going to drive all else, and even more so at a generally smaller, more nimble company.

Cons

For less experienced people who don't quite know how to make suggestions, drive initiatives or propose change, it might not feel like the most exciting place to work. But if you have a vision and know how to strategize and then get things done, it's a dream. You'll get the resources and support you need to try virtually anything -- you just need the wherewithal and maturity to figure it out. And if you don't know how and ask, someone will help you.

Pros

- Pro-consumer product that gives you a sense of pride & accomplishment at the end of the day - Open culture where employees are given trust & space to do their work. - Co-workers are talented & motivated: people like to get things done and make an impact. - Heavily analytics driven decision-making which permeates all aspects of the company. - Plenty of interesting challenges to tackle (too much so - we can't hire fast enough!). - Employee benefits are all top notch: 401k, health benefits, constant company outings & game nights, fully stocked kitchens, and a coffee lover's haven.

Cons

With the growth that the company is experiencing, aspects of team structure & office dynamics tend to be in constant flux. The growing pains are handled well overall, but it can be a bit jarring at times if you're not used to a rapid growth environment.
