Reorgs

Business Outlook

Pros

Massage, nails, some grrat snacks and food

Cons

Bad ventilation at the office so it is really cold all the time and people are sick really really often. Some people work very long hours and overall there are no processes. It is hard to know who owns what and even owning anything at all. There are too many re-orgs so it is hard to get anything done

Pros

* Work-life balance exists for engineers * Profitable company with great brand awareness. Everyone knows about Credit Karma and not because of bad press * Helpful people are everywhere * Great events and HR team that plans fun events and swag

Cons

* Culture outside of engineering is poor: not a place for high-performers that want to get things done * People create bureaucracy for job security or because they don't want to do anything * Management, especially in business development and marketing, is poor * Compensation is below market

Company has changed, no longer a startup

Pros

*Company is successful and making money; growth and hiring are everywhere. *Company does well with perks without going overboard. *Great culture with open talk about diversity and inclusion. *Great work/life balance in the Tech Org (not so much other orgs) *CEO is a genuinely a great guy and well liked across the company.

Cons

*Rampant external hiring of middle management is diluting career opportunities for existing employees. *Sr.Leaders brought in from companies like Google and Twitter hire their former reports and promote few if any employees from within. *Early employees are starting to leave. Attrition is generally on the rise whereas previously it was unheard of. *Working in orgs other than Tech are rumored to have terrible work/life balance and micromanagement cultures. *Glory days of building something new & exciting with equity reward on the line and real career growth (50-250 employees) are long gone.
