Pros

- Great perks, kickass talent and events team. - CEO truly cares about employees and the mission. - I've heard that it's team by team, but I've generally seen good work-life balance. Most coworkers are understanding. - Positive outlook.

Cons

- Very shaky foundation with high tech debt. However, the company has been recently heavily investing in infrastructure, hopefully it'll change things up. - For a self-proclaimed "data-driven" company, the quality of some of the basic data is laughable. Data standards are everywhere. There are also a bunch of things with no owners as the company grew. As a result, there are some very backwards tech issues that people just turn a blind eye on. - Extremely poor middle management. Company is not aligned on goals from top down. Like many comments mentioned, there's this "kill or be killed" attitude cross the organization, which is alarming for a company with only ~800 employees. - Despite all the criticism, however, company has grown dramatically in the past few years and has great potential. If you are someone in a senior leadership position, it might be worth to come here and change the company for the better. If you're still in the developing stage of your career, in which most of us are, I recommend steering clear from this company, as you will be exposed to more bureaucracy and general frustration than actually learning.

Pros

- Most people are very nice - Decent work-life balance - One of the few companies out there with massive customer scale

Cons

- Horrific tech debt - One-trick pony. Up until recently, the business has thrived off of the same product it came out with in 2007. Most of the engineers spend their time making sure old services don't fall over and shuffling around the way we present our main product. - Suffers from extremely bureaucratic culture that involves tons of meetings and tons of trouble making decisions because every team has a million cooks in the kitchen.

Seems To Be Losing Its Way

Pros

Lots of perks, after-work team building events, in-house barista, snacks, drinks, offsite activities, etc... Business seems promising, and moving in the right direction - always receive high praise from strangers when they find out I work at CK Really smart & fun people (but that's changing, see below) Was pretty relaxed for being in hyper-growth mode

Cons

As the company is growing there seems to be people that fit into the CK mold as well as it used to be. People lacking skills for certain levels. Seems like people are being hired because they look good on paper vs how it used to be where the culture fit seemed more important. Lots of outside hires to fill new roles vs promoting people from within (and many people stuck on customer service salaries despite moving into other positions) As stated by others, management frames the business as saving the world but it's still just a credit card lead generation site Lots and lots and lots of gossip/politics - The EC preaches about transparency but what you know about the company (and the future of it) really depends on your position and who you know Seems to be a lot of turnover in the last 2-4 months with little done to explain to rest of staff. Multiple times people are involved in big projects and then just gone. Leads to a lot of rumors as to how/why they left. Pay is not very competitive - many people took pay cuts to come here and were sold on a Google Trends chart and the potential value of options - but now we're being told not to count on that. Company changed raise procedure at last minute to institute a (rather paltry) bonus structure that doesn't take affect until next year. Widespread angst and unhappiness across multiple teams
