Pros

Great clients and fellow employees. Company HR always try to improve employee life. Open minded about flex time and remote working.

Cons

Management is poor at communication and don’t seem to be in touch with the employees working directly with the clients. The economy is great right now so if a company is laying people off there is a problem with how things are being done. If the management isn’t interested in competing in the marketplace then get out. (These comments are specific to certain to the department where I worked that was geographically based on the West Coast)

Good and solid company to work for. Competitive pay. Good culture. Work life balance and flexibility. Nice package and no unemployment contested when laid off.

Cons

No work from home for Claims. Management not too strong. Little/no mentorship.

Fine place to start in insurance, but look elsewhere if you have experience

-20 days PTO - my manager cares about us -company pays for certificate classes and study materials - volunteer days - in my dept, opportunity to advance -work life balance

Cons

-non-competitive pay -non-competitive benefits (they decreased their health insurance contributions this year) -out dated IT - if you're an assistant, don't expect a bonus (this is my first job in insurance, though I have 5+ years of work experience, and other assistants throughout depts say C&F treats assistants horribly -little to no transparency -underwriters are given little authority - sketchy underwriting practices
