Pros

The number one reason people work here is the other people that work here according to our employee satisfaction survey which is a testament to the company culture. Employees are passionate about their interests outside of work and this has helped foster stronger relationships, whether its during our ski trips, off sites or hanging out after work. Solid benefits and perks

Cons

We went through a bit of an identity crisis when Crunchyroll created its own parent company, Ellation based on the streaming technology developed at Crunchyroll.

Pros

Great people to work with (what's left of them). Very talented engineers. Perks are ok for the most part. Lots of snacks and decent catering.

Cons

Engineering personel are leaving in droves and many of the ones that are left are actively seeking other employment. Senior leadership has been completely mismanaging projects; forcing engineers to code, code, code while having no clear idea of what they want. While morale is at an all time low and engineers continue to exit the company, management's solution to this dilemma appears to be hiring more management. Several new VPs and directors have been brought on board but not a single engineering hire has been made in the last two months.

For the most part, this comment is made with sincerity, and I appreciate that whoever posted attempted to offer some honest feedback about what is needed to improve the morale at Ellation. When this comment was posted, this was very much the sentiment among our technical teams. I can say that things are constantly improving. At the time, we did not have the right leadership in place to offer clarity for our Engineers. One challenge we face as an emerging corporate entity, is that we need the right leadership in place to help take this company to the next stages of growth. As a result of feedback relayed from our teams, we made some changes to the leadership, and we have seen a renewed sense of commitment from our Engineers in just two short weeks. It is true we have had some healthy attrition but this is to be expected with any scaling company. As we continue to make changes, our goal is to leave our teams empowered to accomplish great things. I am excited for the continued growth. In addition, PeopleOps has an anonymous feedback platform, and I would love to hear from new and existing employees about ways in which we can continue to improve as an organization. In addition, we have worked hard to offer transparency. Outlining clear goals, offering a clear organizational structure, and being transparent are all key elements that will continue to make this company a sought out place to work.
