Pros

Great office and location. Some great coworkers still remain but most have either been fired or pushed out.

Cons

There is a culture of fear that has become the norm at the company, which is why no one is challenging senior leadership and their strategic decisions. More incompetent VPs and directors are being hired at levels that should be Senior Managers at most, but are put in these positions because they come from other streaming services with very different operation models. It's common for employees to resort to quitting due to clashes with senior leadership, and even when those leaders are named in their escalations to HR nothing is done to keep them accountable. The only way to surface "anonymous" feedback in All Staff company meetings is to non-anonymously send feedback through an admin. Despite numerous requests in the past 2 years to go back to truly anonymous feedback the company has dug its heels and refused so feedback in public forums is sanitized.

Pros

Amazing co-workers who love Anime and Manga. Strong push to move quicker and use modern tools to increase time for more interesting problems. Very passionate fan base

Cons

Crunchyroll of the past had its faults like moving slowly and building more things then it should have but it had a large focus on people and growth that seems to have been lost. Post merger it now seems like if your experience doesn't conform to how leadership sees technology, then it's largely sidelined. Day to day direction comes from the higher ups with managers having to course correct as necessary. This has led to burnout and a questioning of wether the company has a strategy for its goals. Favoritism runs high. Technology changes happen top down with discussions not feeling genuine. Public company discussions rarely feel safe. Fear tactics are used. Little responsibility from management for creating projects that have fundamental business flaws. Overall the company seems to have shifted to be very top down which works for some but not others. It's a bit unclear if this is temporary or just how it is going forward.

Pros

Used to be amazing and a wonderful place to work. Metrics are still great on the outside, ripe for an acquisition. Could potentially be turned around with the right leader(s) at the helm.

Cons

Continued and repeated hiring and promoting of Trump-like staff. The loudest person at the table wins, not the one with the most sensible argument. The true talent have departed one by one (or in one fell swoop of layoffs) and the only people left are the ones who are continuing to perpetuate all the stereotypical silicon valley types. HR is beyond useless. Parallels with the stories coming out of Uber right now are disheartening.
