Pros

Amazing co-workers who love Anime and Manga. Strong push to move quicker and use modern tools to increase time for more interesting problems. Very passionate fan base

Cons

Crunchyroll of the past had its faults like moving slowly and building more things then it should have but it had a large focus on people and growth that seems to have been lost. Post merger it now seems like if your experience doesn't conform to how leadership sees technology, then it's largely sidelined. Day to day direction comes from the higher ups with managers having to course correct as necessary. This has led to burnout and a questioning of wether the company has a strategy for its goals. Favoritism runs high. Technology changes happen top down with discussions not feeling genuine. Public company discussions rarely feel safe. Fear tactics are used. Little responsibility from management for creating projects that have fundamental business flaws. Overall the company seems to have shifted to be very top down which works for some but not others. It's a bit unclear if this is temporary or just how it is going forward.

Moving towards something better

Pros

Good learning tools available to continue developing. Difficult change being made to make the company better, I was with Funimation before the acquisition and was close to leaving after the acquisition as the culture and work was so bad, happy things are now changing with actual leaders being put in place and bad leaders being moved on. Lots of opportunities for people to make a difference and change how stuff gets done Leaders from big companies like Netflix and HBO, lots of different approaches. The hybrid work compromise is ok with 2 days in office a week

Cons

Some old Crunchyroll dev cliques who think that the old slow, bad way is the only way and anything different is wrong.
