Pros

The people are amazing. Some of the most caring and genuine people Ive worked with. The company has been through a lot of changes in a short period of time. The C-staff can do a better job to clearly communicate where the company is heading. Im optimistic that the future will bring many new opportunities. I love the product and many of the other employees love the product. Advise to management would be to capitalize on this passion and show employees that you care. When a company is thriving financially, and you can clearly see that we have passionate fans and users, we have to stay motivated to continue to bring them the best product we can. We have a great opportunity to be a leader in the space. I hope that we don't lose sight of this.

Cons

Within Engineering there are a lot of challenges right now. Engineers want to ship and sometimes there are too many blockers. We are all trying to stay optimistic about the changes, but we want to hear the CTO articulate a strategy around how to move forward through the changes and how to continue to focus on what we we do best, which is to create amazing products. In addition, a lot of the older tenured employees are moving on and this is hard to watch. We should acknowledge that people are leaving, and stay motivated about what that change could mean. I don't want to see people feeling like all hope is lost.

Pros

Used to be a good place to work. I wrote a long review of this place once, I think one of the 3 stars (or maybe 4 stars), and I genuinely believed in the mission then

Cons

Go check the Ellation Glassdoor before you decide anything. Ellation is the "parent" company of Crunchyroll and while that may lead some people to think that perhaps Crunchyroll itself is a standalone unit within Ellation, more or less sheltered from all that's happening, it's not. Pretty much anyone who worked on Crunchyroll worked on the new product VRV as well, it is the same people the same teams (there was not enough headcount to split into two), so anything that is described happening to Ellation employees is gonna be the very same for this listing, even if they look separate in Glassdoor
