Some upper managers (regional and divisional) are abusive, and HR rubber-stamps their actions. Prone to treat lower-level managers as disposable to cover for upper manager mishandling of front-line employees. Some upper managers are willing to run over lower managers to take abusive action against front-line employees they don't like, even though the employee is getting the job done.

You really have to watch your paychecks to make sure everything is there. Management tends to miss a thing or two from time to time. Also communication from corporate to the branch level is less than desirable.
