Pros

Good working environment in many departments. Starting the 'cleaning house' process that will enable them to reach the highest level of sales. Not afraid to terminate out moded employees....dead wood...when market conditions demand it. Pay is just OK in many departments...not great...not below market....just OK. They definitely will promote from within rather than bring an outsider into management. Demand high standards of EVERYONE and not just a select few.

Cons

Very expensive health benefits. Below average profit sharing. Very, very expensive standard of living in San Jose or San Fransico. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: if CEI is relocating you from another area, you will need TWICE THE PAY THAT YOU RECEIVED/CURRENTLY RECEIVE OUSIDE THE BAY AREA!

Pros

They seem to make money in spite of themselves. They do some good in the community, it is all for tax right off and publicity, but at least they provide some good. There are a lot of great people to work with.

Cons

I have dealt with a lot of dishonestly and outright lying. If you take a job here, make sure that the terms and conditions are laid out very directly and in great detail because after they get you, they will manipulate or just change "the agreement" and say, either agree or hit the road. I have heard this from many people at Cupertino. There seems to be a lot of confusion between managers and a lot of confusion between management and HR which leads to a lot of misunderstandings about the expectations, goals and commitments. Fore example, you may get an assignment that is, bring me a rock.. When you do that, they say, no, I wanted a rock with no sharp edges bring me another. After bringing a smooth flat rock with rounded edges, they will say, no, I wanted a round rock with round edges. Again, you comply and bring them a round rock with rounded edges and they say NO, I wanted one that was blue! So, you go get a round rock with rounded edges that is blue and they shake their heads, stair at the floor and say, I want a round rock with rounded edges that is blue but is bigger than this rock and again, you go get a bigger rock that is too big and so on. So, just be aware of that, get everything in writing, get a length of time that they cannot change it if you can and make sure it has every possible detail you can think of.

Great Company, good mix of engineering talent.

If you are an engineer who likes to try out different things then this is not your place to work..
