Pros

- Able to get promoted quickly in in-house production facility if you are motivated have good relationships with managers (not always the same for the remote jobs) - I am now very comfortable with giving and receiving professional feedback; this is encouraged - Great pay and benefits for what the remote jobs entail, and some of the in-house production roles. - Custom Ink relies heavily on contracts with network printers - Good severance when you get laid off

Cons

- Be wary of the whole 'we wear many hats here' mentality. When you take on a lot of additional responsibility with no new job title or pay increase in return, you'll be easy to get rid of if there are layoffs. - They just closed down two large production facilities, leading to hundreds of layoffs. - Unsure about the future of the company due to new management coming in and cleaning house - Interactions can get petty and dramatic due to the 'laid back' nature. I witnessed many HR issues get swept under the rug. - Red flags include: "we wear many hats", "we're a family here", "we have a gym and foosball table", "we spend hundreds of dollars to give you catered lunch each week".. watch out for the devil in sheep's clothing (wearing a t-shirt).

Custom Ink Response

Thank you for your feedback about your Inker experience. Due to rising costs and increasingly tight markets for production talent, Custom Ink closed production sites in Reno, Nevada and Charlottesville, Virginia and consolidated operations at our Dallas, Texas facility. The closures impacted 338 team members—410 team members continue to remain employed in Reno and Charlottesville in other roles. We truly value the fact that you took the time to share your thoughts with us. We strive to create a great place to work and feedback like yours helps us understand where we still have work to do. We’re proud of offering perks like gym facilities, free meals, and free swag for Inkers. We also offer competitive pay and low cost health care plan.

Pros

The relaxed work environment and perks like lunches one day a week are nice. For the most part people are friendly. The office location and office space is great.

Cons

The glowing reviews posted on here sound as if they were written by HR themselves; really fake and overly positive, ignoring the issues that are endemic in Sales Service at CustomInk. Take them with a grain of salt. - Management is seriously inefficient and lacks the skill and intellect to do their jobs properly - New hires are poorly trained. They are nervous and obstinate about taking initiative, and asking the right questions to work learn to do their job more effectively - Constructive feedback/criticism is shunned and you will get backlash for it. "Don't speak up" is the overtone here. Feedback must be extremely polite otherwise you will be scolded. - "Anonymous" monthly feedback surveys are not anonymous at all and are read by management - Pay is a joke and often times your own manager will not know if you are being paid correctly. The standard response is: "we'll look into it and get back to you" HA! - Bonuses are monetarily very small and are very infrequent; no annual bonus of any kind - False promises, lack of a clear path to promotion (favoritism and sexism exists, so those who are less qualified get fast-tracked for promotion) - General lack of consideration and forethought in decision making, further drive morale into the ground - Painstakingly slow process for anything to change, but most changes are not for the better anyway - Plenty of double standards - Focusing on the wrong areas and not paying attention to the areas that actually matter - Heavy reliance on meetings that accomplish very little, which leads to groupthink

Pros

My coworkers were amazing and I still miss them to this day. I had one of the best managers I've ever had. Remote work. Great PTO. Okay-ish health benefits.

Cons

Constantly increasing demands that lead to no increase in reward... In fact, they lead to seemingly endless layoffs. Automation and off shoring has resulted in horrific experiences on behalf of both inkers and customers and decreased the value of both customink's products and services... Which is embarrassing as a once proud inker. I used to rave about how great customink was as a place to work and supplier of promotional goods but after these past couple years, I usually hope people don't ask me too much about it. Initially the pay was great but after years of no increases and inflation, I ended with less than I started with in terms of monetary value.
