Pros

I have enjoyed every single moment of working at Custom Ink. The company takes its core values into consideration during the hiring process, which creates a strong team with personalities that vary but mesh well together. I've never been in a similar work environment. Working in sales, there is a direct reflection of how hard you work to how much you're paid because there is a commission "bonus" based on your performance, but the base salary is high enough that you can earn a living even doing the bare minimum. However, the culture of Custom Ink drives a growth mindset unparalleled by any company I've worked at or researched, so very few employees perform at the bare minimum. There are ample opportunities for professional development and growth, nothing like I've ever seen before. The company doesn't just set you up for success within the company (while that is the goal) but it helps to develop long-term goals and skills that can benefit you throughout your career. I have always felt taken care of as an individual within the company. I have a few personal circumstances that oftentimes require special accommodation, and the company has always supported me and met my needs immediately and without judgment. Custom Ink hires genuinely good people and holds its employees to high moral and professional standards. It comes across well in employee retention and morale. When in the office, there's free food, both a stocked kitchen and regular catered meals. There are frequent fun event days. I will never forget being served blueberry pancakes for breakfast by the Vice President, and many employees look forward to "puppy day" annually where the company's volunteer program brings in adoptable animals to play with. I'd also call-out that the company HAS a volunteer program, which really sold me on Custom Ink when I was applying for jobs. Not only does my work/life balance allow for me to volunteer, but it is also encouraged and supported by the company.

Cons

The bar has now been set too high. Nothing will ever compare.

Pros

Other than some co-workers nothing much of a pro

Cons

This company used to be a great place to work. They truly did live by core values, this was 2014 though and ever since it's become nothing but a joke. I watched good managers get pushed out. Real human resources be fired over things that happened off the clock. Now they keep the me-too liars who don't like being called out for sitting around on their cellphone instead of doing their job only to be told the next day I was on leave for being accused of sexual harassment. Instead of following company policy they fired me because I used my PTO and had back surgery. Because I wouldn't let the joke they call management bully me. It's funny how the state found that you had wrongfully terminated me and that there was no evidence.

Pros

* Benefits are excellent including health, dental, life 401K and vision *Using their Design Lab is easy and fun, and requires no prior graphic design experience *You will have the opportunity to learn a lot about sales. This is a very sales-oriented customer service position *Weekend availability is expected

Cons

*Customer-service based, including resolving issues for upset customers both over the phone and in person *Isolating. Sometimes you will be shifted alone, or have just 1-2 other people total to support you. *Training is not thorough enough to support responsibilities *Responsibilities will frequently increase while compensation remains stagnant *There is limited room for growth (promotions) within the stores department unless you are interested in retail management

Custom Ink Response

Thank you for your review. You're right, our Store experience is a blend of service and sales. We aren't a traditional retail workplace and we're up front about expectations in our role descriptions. While weekend availability is a must, the majority of our stores close at 6 p.m. and are closed Black Friday and other holidays. Our benefits are amazing; low costs, copays, and no deductibles on top of free telemedicine, including counseling and dermatology! Stores is a new and growing channel for Custom Ink, which means we've been working hard on the right compensation recipe. Our Store Inkers work hard to give our customers a WOW experience and in recognition of that, I announced a year-end bonus for all team members. We also have a new compensation plan rolling out in Q1, stay tuned. Careers aren't limited to stores. Not only do Inkers have a career path to retail management they also have opportunities in other channels like Inbound Sales, Key Account Management, Art and Design, and Production. Mobility within Stores is encouraged! We had seven promotions in Q4 last year. And, Inkers always have access to the entire business for growth and development. Custom Ink even offers relocation for top performers.I hope you'll work with your leader on your Individual Development Plan or reach out to me if your goals at Custom Ink aren't being met. Personally and professionally, I wish you the very best in 2020! -Amanda Hanlon, Director of Store Operations
