Pros

I work with good people who care about customers and each other. I like working for a pioneering and innovative company with really cool products and services. I have the opportunity to be creative in my job. I think the pay is good, for where I live, and the number of vacation days is very good, considering I don't live in France. With the prospect of DISH entering the mobile data and voice marketplace in the near future, I believe there is a ton of opportunity for growth with this company. Increasingly upper managment is acting on more suggestions from employees at all levels and that is improving the company.

Cons

The health insurance is not something I am particularly satsfied with at this time, though management has ackowledged the issue and expressed a commitment to make it better. Parking is an issue at some locations because DISH employs a lot of people.

Pros

Being given the ability to gain mass amounts of experience in different programs due to an exposure to a wide array of tasks and scenarios. There is a very diverse group of employees with different skill sets which can be tapped into. If you are willing to take the time to educate yourself, not wait for something to be handed to you, relocate for different chances, and most importantly listen to and accept any feedback (negative or positive) from peers, supervisors or anyone above, there is no ceiling to the amounts of knowledge you can gain, chances for advancement, or opportunities to explore. To open those doors to the future, you must actually own up to your past actions and behaviors while maintaining a realistic view to the depth of your knowledge in your area of expertise. Acknowledging your own personal downfalls, showing progress and making improvements goes a long way here. Even though there are negatives listed in this review, I enjoy working here as I enjoy the unexpected and unpredictable chaos. It's a new experience every day.

Cons

Medical benefits - but at least they are offered! There are times when favoritism from the management team appears to be the deciding factor over who is actually best qualified and most capable of completing tasks/filling roles. The assignment of demanding tasks by management can be very frustrating as it is usually done without being given direction or providing feedback during your progress through the task. Yes, you learn how to become very resourceful to find the answers, but it is at the risk of wasting time and decreasing productivity. At times, if feels like you are being dropped in the middle of the woods 300 miles away somewhere in the middle of Wyoming, having to return to your desk in the next 24 hours in business casual attire and providing that detailed yet not overly summarized business analysis using Calibri 11 font while the only tools they provided you with are a mini-mag flashlight with no batteries, one yellow rain coat two sizes too small, one red #2 pencil (specifically red with no sharpener), and black construction paper. (Yes - that is correct. It feels to be just as pointless and awkward as that last sentence and making absolutely no sense whatsoever.)

Pros

Culture and values truly place emphasis on customers and employee career growth; growth opportunities are available for those who are willing to work for it; benefits package is competitive with surrounding businesses; training program is intensive and truly prepares an individual to succeed in their position; pay incentive program, called PI, which maintains very achievable goals

Cons

Can focus on "corporate numbers" at the risk of viewing employees as numbers instead of individuals; long hours for technicians, depending on day (10-14 hours); work holidays; high management churn at the local level can result in unstability for employees.
