- the work hours, even when you are not in operations, the expectation is that you are there at least from 7:00 to 6:00 - that leadership on a regional level is a bunch of guys who have wives that do not work giving them a ton of flexibility when compared to the "modern" couple where both wife and husband work - performance review process is really antiquated, management turns the responsibility of feedback back on the employee saying that they need to do more to get feedback - it is a culture that takes outsiders a long time to grasp

By virtue of the fact that there is little micromanagement (which is a good thing in general), individuals with drive and smarts can do great things on their with virtually no internal constraints. The problem is, when they do so, they company reaps most of the benefits and the individual only reaps marginal benefits. By benefits I mean salary, bonus and recognition. Great place to get paid decently while learning how to excel at something profitable, while unfortunately not seeing much of the profit yourself.
