Pros

As of 2024, the only positive aspect of working at DaVita is the support from fellow co-workers, despite the management's toxicity. During my first two years before COVID, the company fostered a fantastic environment centered on connections, social interaction, trust, fairness, and communication. The employee mantra was "All for one and one for all," a sentiment that unfortunately no longer exists within the company.

Cons

Abusive management, including bullying, harassment and hostility. Management Training and Support: It appears that many managers have not received adequate training in effective leadership techniques, resulting in challenges such as a lack of active listening, micromanagement, and insufficient trust within teams. This has fostered an environment where employees feel unsupported. Communication and Feedback: The communication between management and staff has been suboptimal. There is a noticeable absence of constructive feedback, which is crucial for employee growth and engagement. Additionally, the constant introduction of new policies and procedures complicates our daily tasks, leading to confusion and frustration. Inclusion of Neurodivergent Employees: It is concerning that there seems to be a lack of understanding or training regarding how to manage neurodivergent employees effectively. An inclusive approach is essential for fostering a diverse and productive workplace. Workplace Atmosphere: The current atmosphere appears to be one of apprehension, with employees expressing worries about job security when voicing concerns. This climate has stifled open communication and camaraderie, which were once hallmarks of our team dynamics. Unmanageable workloads quickly lead to burnout and drag your organizational culture down. Unrealistic expectations and constant pressure bring out the worst in any employee. Discrimination and bias in the workplace has perhaps the most destructive impact on company culture. Employees who experience or witness unfair treatment based on race, gender, age, or other factors are likely to feel alienated and very demoralized. The Inconsistently applied position policies and procedures lead to confusion and resentment among the teams, eroding trust and creating a toxic atmosphere. Overworking and constantly stressing their employees: both reflect and contribute to a toxic workplace environment. Promoting employee wellness requires a comprehensive organizational commitment to maintaining both the physical and emotional health of team members. This includes managing workloads effectively, providing flexible work arrangements, and offering wellness resources such as mindfulness training. Additionally, it is essential for leaders to recognize the importance of employee wellness and to prioritize it when setting goals, assigning tasks, and communicating with their teams. And then there is the Pay: Davita seems to pay less than the average pay for their position. You are constantly told by management that any pay increase is performance based. There are no cost of living increases and most pay increases are an average of 1% to 3% of your current pay. Resulting in an increase of cents rather than dollars, which after performing perfectly for a particular year, results in a .15 to .60 cent per hour increase. Which sadly most do not even see that, with management stating reasons like: not being social enough, barely meeting the unrealistic metric requirements. I was with this company for 6 years, started at $15 per hour, by my 6th year I was at $19 an hour. With new employees starting at $22 to $26 an hour. The pay discrepancy is hidden behind their claim of performance based and if pay is increased you are "told" to not tell anyone what you received.

Pros

Can’t really think of any other than I had good coworkers.

Cons

The company very obviously only cares about profits over patient care and safety. Upper management doesn’t listen when you present them with serious concerns.
