Pros

The county has really good insurance benefits, holidays off and PTO. There are always opportunities to move up since there are always vacancies.

Cons

Poor management, poor pay, overworked, extremely high turnover rate and toxic environment. The employees in certain departments are far from professional. Subordinates are more qualified than management. Will go several YEARS without a pay increase.

Pros

Great retirement, medical and other benefits. Feeling of fulfillment helping children.

Cons

They will make you work manditory overtime but you wont get paid monetarily. They will give you comp time. Which is off time. But half the time you will not choose what days you use your comp time. They have bully administration who truly do not care how you are spoken to nor how you are treated by your superiors. The buddy system is highly valued over your performance. Even if you have stellar performance, the person buddy buddy with management will be promoted. When confronted with these issues, management target you and ruin your name. Then you will be blackballed for the rest if your career. Oh and by the way all for very low pay. Pay is less than any of the other major counties. Good Luck.

Pros

Great benefits, especially for retirement; little turnover; a lot of opportunities to move up within the court system if you are a prosecutor; flexible schedules for some support staff; friendly staff; supportive managers.

Cons

Not much room for advancement for support staff; very busy building - crowded elevators and parking lots especially on Mondays; metal detectors; political atmosphere during election years; lots of competition to get a job here; some cases are sad to hear about especially child abuse cases.
