Pros

You have the opportunity to get a wide variety of experiences. You have the opportunity to impact the lives of others; and help others make changes to better themselves.

Cons

There needs to be more opportunities for professional growth and development. More focus on life-work balance is needed.

Pros

The DSO is a good steady job. Set hours. A very good benefits and retirement package. It's a Civil Service job, so there are very good employee protections in place.

Cons

There is absolutely NO professional development of any kind whatsoever. Leadership is severely lacking.
