Growth at all cost

Pros

-Technology is unique and ahead of competition -Solid marketing and reputation -Amazing peers

Cons

Senior management seems to be out of touch with the realities of the workplace or is simply ignoring it, letting other companies poach its talent. "Growth at all cost" at expense of stability and well-being of employees seems to be endangering the good things the company has to offer. Might not be a sweatshop, but it sure feels like working in one

Pros

-Ability to travel to different places domestically and get exposure to various types of industry (Health IT, law firms, retail, etc.) -Opportunity for entry-level position and initial exposure to cyber security field

Cons

-No career growth. No training. Quota-driven and no passion towards employees. You're not gaining any real experience that can be useful outside of the company. -Management rarely has your back -No equity or 401k You know the saying: you don't quit a job. You quit a manager. In this case, however, you also quit the job because the career outlook is not so bright here. Culture is toxic and majority (not all) of colleagues are too pompous and think too highly of themselves when most of the legwork has been contributed by the guys in the Cambridge, UK HQ. Go look somewhere else, unless you're looking for an entry-level position and desperately need a job. On paper, you will at least get "experience" but I wouldn't stick here for the long haul. But then again, I wouldn't recommend this place in the first place since it can set you back career-wise and it would be waste of time.

Pros

The product is a winning combination of very advanced technology and a sexy UI. I have yet to encounter a customer who, no matter their level of sophistication, hasn’t been impressed by the technology. Darktrace also happens to be the first mover within an untapped space in cybersecurity. Easy sell. The people are great and the atmosphere is focused and energetic. You get thrown into a wild bunch of highly intelligent, motivated, and fun individuals who spend just as much time together in and out of the office. It’s hard not to have a good time with this crew… especially when cocktails are involved! The executives hold very high expectations for their employees; it is important to note that this position is not for everyone. You must be ok with a performance-driven and meritocratic culture. It all boils down to your ability to navigate challenges and transform them into learning and formative experiences. Ultimately, if you’re motivated and maintain a positive attitude, you’ll be extremely well supported by the local management team who deeply cares about your success and will fight all the battles right by your side. On a lighter note, you'll get to travel on a weekly basis and accumulate so many airline points that you’ll never have to pay for a flight again. Ever.

Cons

Cybersecurity, similarly to any industry that operates high value added and complex sales, comes with a bit of a ramp-up period. The investment in oneself is rewarding down the line, but the first few months can be challenging.
