Pros

-Great product -They'll hire external SDRs to be AEs

Cons

-Pay/Attainment: Only 30% of reps are hitting. They pay a fraction of the going market base salary. -Oversaturated Market: Going after the same accounts that have been worked by 3 or 4 prior reps. Companies are sick of hearing from us. -Toxic Culture and Favoritism: the Denver office if full of unpleasant reps that relocated from Boston who have their own clique. This group has been rewarded by moving across the country. They've been handed the best accounts and as a result have all been promoted due to their 'performance'. -Sales Management: completely incompetent group of men who are riding the coattails of the Product/Engineering team. Their direct reports are more competent from a technical perspective. They just come into deals throwing their titles around and talk in circles on internal meetings. -Boys Club: as a woman I was told that there was a huge emphasis being placed on supporting the development of women. Hard to buy this anymore since there's a serious lack of female leadership at DD. -Return to Office/Covid: completely tone deaf when it comes to the future of work and the health of their workers. They're forcing employees to come into the office and are losing top reps as a result. Management claims that they need everyone in the office for "team building" but in reality they don't trust reps to work remotely. When someone reports that they have Covid there are no protocols in place to actually protect others. They just send out an email about someone testing positive and say they've asked the employee to stay home. -Holding Back Commissions and Complicated Comp Plans: If you're able to land a massive deal at DD they won't pay you what you're owed. Instead they will make you work to earn the entire commission over the next few quarters. And they intentionally complicate the compensation plan so you really don't know how much you're owed. The comp platform has been down for months forcing reps to track their own commissions and spend time reaching out to other departments in an attempt to understand how much we get paid.

Thank you for being open in sharing your feedback and experience. We strive to create a culture where everyone feels they can succeed and grow, and we're sincerely sorry that that hasn't been the overall experience you've had with us at Datadog. In regard to your management concerns, our Talent and Development team runs trainings focused on feedback, leadership, effective career conversations and more. Building and supporting diverse teams is a priority for us. We are continually working to equip managers with the necessary tools to support their teams and lead effectively, and we appreciate you sharing this feedback with us so we can work to improve further. With regard to return to office protocols, we value our in-person culture and want to make sure that everyone feels connected and safe - which is why we have implemented our flexible working policy, allowing Datadogs to mix office and remote work every week. We encourage all employees to talk to their managers and People Business Partners to find the workflow that suits their work/life harmony best. Our Business Operations team works diligently to ensure that our spaces are well maintained and that regionally-appropriate Covid protocols are in place in our offices. Employees who have had a close contact with anyone in the office are notified individually. Our Compensation team follows the market to ensure that we compensate our employees appropriately, and we evaluate and adjust our compensation structures and practices where and when it makes sense. We have also made investments in our people through consistent promotions and have made investments in tooling to analyze and distribute accounts efficiently. We appreciate you taking the time to leave this review, and will do all we can to continue to learn, grow and improve as a business every day.

Going down hill

Pros

- Equity in a public company with strong business outlook and product/market fit - Comprehensive benefits package, with nice perks like $1,200 for fitness-related expenses - Good culture on some teams (though not overall)

Cons

I loved Datadog when I started, but the company has taken a turn for the worse. They are making employees go to the office, even though people contract COVID there on a regular basis. Senior leadership is extremely dismissive of health-related concerns; they only care about getting butts in seats to justify their lease in the New York Times building. The CEO recently referred to people who work from home as "pseudo-humans" during an all-hands meeting. The product has an excellent market fit, but leadership is incapable of creating scalable processes. There is constant chaos as teams struggle to work together on half-baked ideas. Pay is average and they have explicitly said there won't be any cost of living raises, in spite of 8% inflation.

We appreciate you taking the time to leave this feedback, and apologize that you've had a less than positive experience recently. We take the health and safety of our employees very seriously, which is why we do require employees in US Datadog locations to wear masks in offices as well as to be vaccinated to enter. After two years of full-time remote work, however, we do believe that a hybrid workplace experience is the best option to encourage the innovation and collaboration that happens in person. Many employees also missed being in person with their coworkers, as well as the perks of our office catered lunches, coworking spaces, team activities and more. On compensation, economic conditions affect the market compensation bands and we monitor and adjust our own compensation bands accordingly to ensure employees are paid fairly. Salary is only one piece of the puzzle - we consistently review employees' total compensation - their salary plus their vesting equity. We're glad you've loved our fitness reimbursement benefit and feel positive about the business outlook as we scale rapidly. As with any growth, we will experience growing pains, and ask for your patience and support as we navigate through this journey together. We hope you'll address these concerns directly with your People Business Partner so we can find actionable solutions to your concerns. Thank you for your continued impact at Datadog.
