      Mission-Driven Company that Makes a Difference in the World

      - Incredibly impactful product that makes a difference in the world - Impressive AI technology that is the first of its kind, way ahead of the competition - The People - highly motivated and diverse individuals with low egos but mission-driven and supportive - Leadership that has a wealth of experience and is supportive of new ideas - Leadership investment in their employees by way of identifying opportunities for growth - Commitment to DEI initiatives and programs - Autonomy I have over my work and role (not micromanaged and lots of opportunities for creativity and taking risks) - Excellent mentorship program and Emerging Leaders program Overall, I have been with Dataminr for over 5 years and I can say I have witnessed a greater impact on the world and our customers, than any other company or organization I have been a part of. It's inspiring to work here, and what is even more inspiring are the individuals that make up the Dataminr community. In addition, Dataminr's commitment to constant improvement has been what has kept me here, along with the mission. Leadership recognizes we are not perfect and as we grow there are a lot of things we can do to improve and hold ourselves accountable.

      Cons

      - Lots of recent change has disrupted teams and processes and challenged us in many ways to adapt (but there has been clear communication on the reasons for change that has helped support it]

      Pros

      Kind and talented colleagues, great benefits, flexible work, smart and approachable leaders, daily learning opportunities, unmatched product innovation. The company genuinely cares about what employees think and puts a lot of effort toward listening and responding.

      Cons

      You have to be very comfortable with change to work at Dataminr, and excited by change (and all of the opportunity it brings) to thrive here. There can be a lot of ambiguity at Dataminr as we rapidly grow and change, so if you're someone who needs all the answers all the time to operate, or tends to fill unknown space with negative assumptions, you may not be happy here. People who assume positive intent and are flexible do the best at Dataminr long term.

      Loved it until they laid me off

      Pros

      - Good work life balance - Great benefits - Smart colleagues - Flexible with wfh

      Cons

      Decision making and planning by leadership has been poor, leading to multiple rounds of layoffs in 2023. I managed to survive the first round but not the second. It was very demoralizing and heartbreaking to see such great people cut the way that they were. It was great until it wasn't, and I unfortunately believe that Dataminr has already peaked and is now on a downward trajectory.
