Pros

The training processes for a new salesperson bka admissions advisor is second to none. Teamwork is an understatement, there are coworkers here who will bend ovver backwards and then some to help you out. The pay and benefits are decent considering the routine nature of the work.

Cons

People say "I hate to be micromanaged" but they have no idea what DeVry has in store, if it weren't borderline stalkerish I'd be amazed at the technology. Mattersight records voice patterns and word combinations to ensure compliance, salesforce.com and collabrio monitor/record every dial that you make. Managers are walking throught the aisles to ensure you stay on task and emails-instant messages-internet activity can be monitored in real time. Additionally there is one mgr for every 10-12 reps so there are literally 12 people aiming for management and one opening annually persay so there can be carrot dangling for promotions which encourages a bit of backstabbing from time to time in an effort to limelight outside of normal recognition.

Pros

Great tuition benefits - employees get free tuition after working for the company for 6 months. Good place for people starting their career or finishing their careers

Cons

-Struggling industry -Very little advancement opportunity -No vision or direction, constant course correction -Negotiate well for your starting salary, because once you start, they make it very hard to get an increase. I know people who've been working for years without an increase. -Company limits internal promotions to a 10% pay increase regardless of the position advancing to -They favor external hires, and don't promote internally -Training is non-existent, which is why the prefer to hire from others within the industry -Employee culture is poor, most of my colleagues are looking for other jobs

Pros

Compensation and bonus was great when I first started. Thereafter is another story.

Cons

Recently laid off along with 6% of the company, I find it difficult to believe I gave them so much time and students for a lay-off. Advised management to lower my salary and let me keep my job because I loved helping students, but instead, a 1 day notice lay-off. No heads up. Recently bought a home, expanding family, and laid-off. Bad business decision to lay off the same person bringing in the students.
